The Week That Was: April 1st-7th

When the final horn was sounded in San Jose just past 1:00 am Eastern Time, the 2011-2012 NHL season officially came to a close. In the final week, the playoff race was officially set. The Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers clinched the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, while the Dallas Stars played themselves out of the Western Conference following a 4 game losing streak. As a result, next week will have playoff matches with bad blood such as Washington and Boston, and intriguing series such as Vancouver and Los Angeles.List of affordable Breitling prices for used and authentic Breitling in cosmeticbagfactory.

For the past 6 months, every team has gone on a roller coaster ride, seeing highs and lows, success and disappointment. The main theme of the 2011-2012 NHL season was to expect the unexpected. In the West, the Columbus Blue Jackets saw themselves at the bottom of the standings despite the high-profile additions of Wisniewski and Carter. On the other end of things, the St. Louis Blues shocked everybody following a coaching change, en route to a 109 point season, good for third in the entire league. Other surprises included the Panthers who captured the relatively weak Southeast Division, and the Coyotes who earned their first division crown in franchise history.

Individual players this season also turned some heads. Aside from Stamkos and his 60 goal season along with Malkin's Art Ross worthy campaign, Phil Kessel, Max Pacioretty, and Erik Karlsson reached new career highs in big hockey markets attracting everybody's attention. Players such as Henrik Zetterberg, Marian Hossa, and Marian Gaborik also shocked many by staying healthy for the entire season and being large contributors to their respective teams. This did not go without some disappointments statistically, including a serious drop in Ryan Kesler's totals or the inconsistent play from Alex Ovechkin.

Nevertheless, many things happened this week that were buried as a result of the intense playoff races. Because the matchups were not set until the final hour, it was difficult to keep track of the different moments that occurred over the last 7 days and keep tabs on the incredibly perplexing playoff scenarios. Between interesting defensive tactics and bad blood, there was no shortage of excitement in the National Hockey League. Here is the week that was from April 1st to 7th:

Using Your Head (In the Wrong Way)

The 2011-2012 NHL season has seen its fair share of game misconducts for a wide variety of different reasons. The crimes can be as predictable as a hit from behind or as dangerous as kneeing. However, a very rare type of game misconduct is the headbutt. The headbutting penalty unfolds exactly as it sounds: to strike another player with their head. In the age of concussions and increasing head-injuries, it never seemed that this penalty would ever be seen. Apparently, Nate Prosser had other ideas.

Nearing the end of the first period of a Thursday night matchup, Minnesota Wild's blueliner Prosser was involved in an altercation with Blackhawks forward Jamaal Mayers. The end result had Prosser leaning in and striking Mayers with his shield in a vicious “headbutting” manner (watch the video here). Prosser was immediately ejected from the game and given 5 and a 10. Watching the video multiple times, there's no question that the hit was dirty and intentional. Helmets and shields are rock solid and is a strong weapon when hitting another player is incredibly dangerous. Prosser will likely have a hearing with the NHL, and an incredibly strong suspension should be handed out to set a precedent for such an unusual offence. Coaches and analysts always say that the best players use their heads, but Nate Prosser apparently didn't get the memo that they meant using their mind and not their skull.

Where's the Puck?

Prior to the NHL lockout back in 2005, a play would be whistled dead if it was pinned up against the boards because it slowed the game and referees could not see the puck clearly. After the yearlong work stoppage, hockey returned and longer scrums ensued.Thirty pages into the book authenticguccihandbags has not done anything recently. Every game has multiple instances where there is a scrum for the puck in a corner or near the net and the whistle is often left silent. However, there are still times that the puck is whistled dead. One of those played should have included Jordan Leopold's goal, one of the wackiest goals of the year that should not have counted.

On Tuesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing the Buffalo Sabres who were on the brink of elimination. With only minutes to go and the Sabres down by 1, a pileup occurred in front of the Leafs' net.Buy cheap high quality ralphlaurenhoody Watches. After a few seconds of absolute chaos where bodies were sprawled everywhere, the puck suddenly appeared in the back of the net courtesy of a Jordan Leopold poke. The Sabres would go on to win the game 6-5 and keep their playoff hopes alive for another day. The question everybody asked about the play following the end of the game was,Welcome to Find The Bestfakerolexwatches. “Did the referee see the puck?” While it is true that the NHL discourages quick whistles, if a ref cannot see the puck the play should be ruled dead. Considering Ben Scrivens claimed post-game that he did not see the puck once and that he had never been involved in such a large scrum in his playing career, all signs point to the fact that the disc was nowhere to be seen. If this was a November game, would the play have been called dead? Incredibly likely. The fact that this game had dire consequences for the Buffalo Sabres likely prompted the stripes to swallow their whistles in that situation. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic game and effort by the Sabres, who deserve some breaks after the bad luck they've had all season.

Service with a smile

Imagine a five-person crew pampering your car while you fill up at a gas station. One attendant washes your windows, another inspects under the hood, one checks the air in the tires, and another sweeps out the interior.

I might not mind paying four bucks a gallon for that kind of service.

Berl Davis remembers that service and attention to detail being the heart and soul of the Master Service Center, where he worked in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The tone, Davis said,Buy parkajackets from top rated stores. was set by the general manager of the gas station.

When a customer pulled up to one of the pump islands at Master Service Center, which was on Commercial Street SE downtown where the Union Gospel Mission is today, a five-man crew would swarm the vehicle and begin the pampering process.

The company called it their "Five-Point Service Plan." One attendant would pump gas, while the other four would take on duties of checking under the hood, washing the windows, checking the tires and sweeping the car's interior. The following are some of the steps included in buying parkaforcheap.

Paper or Plastic? Neither Says L.A

America's second largest city has moved one step closer to banning both paper and plastic shopping bags, meaning that everyone will have to take reusable shopping sacks when they go to the supermarket.

Los Angeles City Council's energy and environment committee voted unanimously for the ban on Wednesday and it will now go before the full council.

The ban on plastic in 7,500 supermarkets would go into effect first. At that point stores would have to charge 10 cents per paper bag, the Los Angeles Times reported. Six months later paper would be barred as well.

Workers from Crown Poly, a local plastic bag making plant, which stands to lose up to 130 jobs if the ban goes into effect, urged the committee to drop the plan. "I will be losing my job, losing my insurance. Please take that into consideration," said Norma Fierro.

Councilman Paul Koretz likened Fierro's job to a horse-drawn carriage maker at the turn of the century. "I'm the last one to allow for layoffs in L.A. city, and I fight them hard," he said. "But I've never stood and said that if a job doesn't make sense anymore, that we've got to keep that job."

Environmentalists say plastic bags are rarely recycled and vast numbers end up in the ocean. Paper bags contribute to deforestation, they say.

But Mark Daniels of Hilex Poly and the American Progressive Bag Alliance, told Newsmax, the ban would have no impact on litter, claiming most reusable bags are "not recyclable, are less sanitary, are made in China using foreign oil, and often contain heavy metals.

"Worse,New hermeshandbags at discount prices from SwissLuxury. bag bans inflict a regressive tax on the disadvantaged, impose a burden on small businesses, and are a threat to local manufacturing jobs," he added.

Guest Opinion: Plastic Bags Make Sense for Sammamish & Issaquah

Phil Rozenski, Director of Sustainability and Marketing for Hilex Poly, says a plastic bag ban could hurt economy, sustainabilty for Issaquah,

With the Issaquah City Council delaying their vote on an ordinance that would ban plastic bags and tax paper bags, and in light of a recent Sammamish-Issaquah Patch poll demonstrating that local residents have mixed opinions on the issue, I thought I would take this opportunity to explain why banning or taxing plastic bags is not the right decision for Sammamish and Issaquah consumers, businesses, and the economy.

As Director of Sustainability and Marketing for Hilex Poly, an American manufacturer of plastic bags and operator of the world’s largest closed loop plastic bag recycling facility, I understand how this ordinance would impact American jobs in the manufacturing and recycling industries and why local recycling programs are a far better choice than plastic bag bans or taxes.

Firstly,In Style Accessories collecting ralphlaurenhoody to donate to shelters. plastic bags are more than single-use items. They are 100% recyclable and,There are many fake travellingbagfactory that can cheat your money or sell fake branded watches. according to an APCO study, about 90 percent of American households reuse some of their plastic bags for bin liners, household chores, pet waste and more. A ban or tax would push consumers to use less environmentally friendly paper bags, which require more energy to produce and transport, or reusable bags, which are not recyclable and can have health consequences. A study conducted by Use Less Stuff found that following the San Francisco bag ban,Intensify your own Grace with replicalvhandbag. a significant amount of double bagging occurred. And according to a study by University of Arizona microbiologist Dr. Charles P. Gerba, reusable bags can contain harmful bacteria like E‐coli and salmonella, which can cause serious illness.

Instead of banning a 100% reusable and recyclable product, Hilex believes in common sense legislation that preserves American manufacturing and recycling jobs and supports recycling. In the United States, more than 30,000 people are directly employed by the plastic bag manufacturing and recycling industry, and thousands more are indirectly employed. In fact, the industry employs 1,000 Washingtonians here thanks to the plastic bag manufacturers, logistics and warehousing companies that support the plastic bag industry.Swiss monclerjacketswomens offer genuine timepieces from Omega. Legislation would directly impact these jobs and the families who make their living here.

The industry has made great progress over the past 10 years. According to the latest EPA Municipal Solid Waste Generation, Recycling, and Disposal in the United States report, recycling of polyethylene (PE) bags, sacks and wraps increased to 15 percent in the last year, with PE plastic bag,Great Promotions on Greatest Purchase San Francisco Giants Franchise Fitted parkaforcheap Shops. sack and wrap recycling growing 9 out of the last 10 years. Our very own Bag-2-Bag program has also made recycling easier and more convenient for consumers by establishing more than 30,000 drop-off bins at retailers across the country. Although we realize there is still more we can do to improve recycling rates, we hope to have the support of local residents and legislators to help continue this increase.

Canadian economy grows in January

Canada's national economic output expanded in January, although at a slower pace than the month before.

Statistics Canada says gross domestic product grew by 0.1 per cent in January after a 0.5 per cent jump the month before.

The results were in line with economist expectations.Learn more about Largest Discount discountcoachhandbags.

The manufacturing sector expanded for the fifth consecutive month, growing by 0.7 per cent. The total output from the sector has grown to nearly $170 billion dollars per month from a recession low of around $147 billion.

Increases were also seen in finance and insurance, wholesale trade,Looking for Neweracap Voucher Codes, Discounts, burberryhandbags? tourism, and the public sector.

Pulling down growth was a contraction in the oil and gas sector. A 0.9 per cent decline in natural gas extraction offset a rise in oil production.

The home resale market also suffered in January as the output of real estate agents and brokers fell by over 3 per cent after four straight monthly increases.

The construction sector also slowed, down by 0.1 per cent in the month.

BMO economist Robert Kavcic says the report "coulda been worse" according to the title of his report, but budget cuts at all levels of government may start having an impact on growth.

"The modest January gain follows a strong handoff in December, and leaves growth on pace to clock in around 2.1 per cent in Q1, slightly ahead of the Bank of Canada’s latest 1.8% forecast," he said in the note.Great Promotions on Greatest Purchase San Francisco Giants Franchise Fitted parkaforcheap Shops.

"But fiscal restraint should temper activity somewhat, even though the axe won’t fall especially hard in 2012."

Dummies at Veterans and Bruns aren't just a passing fancy

I have another addition to peculiar central Illinois highway landmarks. We already know about the motorcycle in the tree along Interstate 72 near New Berlin. There are the hay bales arranged into a smiley face on Illinois 29 north of the Springfield airport. Today, we have the couple who dress dummies in clothes and put them on a bench at Veterans Parkway and Bruns Lane.

The dummies (not the couple) are seen by thousands of drivers every day. People have asked if I could find out what it's all about. Happy to oblige. Our canadagoosecoat look, work and feel exactly like the originals.

The Zocks, Joe and Cathy,Welcome to cheapcanadagoose In Nyc on Facebook. are responsible. They live right behind the bench with the dummies. Joe is surprised at how many people have noticed his two stuffed friends.

Actually, one of the two figures is just plastic pipe with life jackets on it, but you can't tell that when driving by on Veterans at 55 mph.

"It's like the women you see in the bar," says Joe, "they look good from afar, but they're far from good."

The bench came first. Joe and his son, Tim, were about to throw away a broken wooden bench.

"Then I said to just set it on the hill," says Joe. "It sat out there and people started calling, ‘Is that your bench?' "

Then, a couple of Halloweens ago, the Zocks put a stuffed scarecrow on the bench. That got so much attention they made it permanent.

"It progressed from there," Joe says. "It's comical. Actually, only one of those dummies is ours. Somebody else put the other one out there. We don't know who."

Last winter, one dummy was dressed in a football uniform — Green Bay Packers — and the other was wearing a referee's shirt. People sometimes honk as they go by. The Zocks have even seen drivers pull over, get out of their cars and take pictures of the dummies. They are always amazed by that.

"It started out just as something for us to do," says Joe. "I never realized anybody would even notice those little guys up there."

Wings' task: Get healthy, better as NHL playoffs near

If the Red Wings hope to reach the playoffs at their peak, with their best chance of winning the Stanley Cup, getting healthy and returning to the form they showed as the top team in the NHL for 32 days this season is imperative.

The challenge starts with playing well enough the next nine days to finish in front of the team they play tonight — the improved Predators.

But their tasks are many in the critically important last five games.

The Red Wings and Predators likely will meet in the first round. Both are better at home than on the road, Detroit by 14 wins and Nashville by four.

The team that begins the series at home the first two games,IWC watches are warranted by our authentichandbag for a period of one year. with a possible seventh game in its building, could well have a significant advantage, if past is prologue.

So even as Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, Johan Franzen, Jonathan Ericsson and Jakub Kindl strive for game speed after recovering from injuries, Darren Helm hopes to begin skating and — perhaps most importantly — Jimmy Howard returns tonight or Sunday in a late-season attempt to recapture his All-Star form, the Red Wings also must fight with a tough rival to retain the fourth spot in the West.
Improved play a must

While getting healthy, the Red Wings must simultaneously find a way to play far better, and the loss to the Blue Jackets shocked their coach and provided evidence that improvement is required.

Defensive breakdowns, less-than-stellar goaltending and a seemingly complete absence of will and desire were difficult to watch.

"I think a lot of us in here felt embarrassed walking out of the rink," Kronwall said.

"Tomorrow is going to be a big game for us right away, after a tough loss like last night. The way we played? Obviously, we'd like to respond and play a lot better."

What the Red Wings envisioned during the third week of February, as they presided at the top of the NHL, was remaining healthy, improving on the road and using more time at home at the end of the schedule to work on the power play.

Instead, it was injuries, continually struggling to rediscover their game, losing seven consecutive on the road for the first time in 21 years, and further deterioration in the power play, 20th entering play Thursday.

Babcock is impressed with the Predators, who have excellent structure,Visit the premier pradahandbags001 in Melbourne Australia. good defense, terrific goaltending, arguably the most talent added before the trade deadline and a significant offensive threat, Alexander Radulov, added after it.

But he said he is more concerned about his team.

"Oh, they've got a good team, but I think we've got a good team," he said. "So, it should be fun. That, to me, is not as big a deal as how you're playing."
Feeling good

As for the late battle with the Predators for home-ice advantage in the playoffs, Babcock said there are more important considerations.

"Would I like to start in Detroit? Sure I would. But Nashville's a fun town, too,Trade Leads for womensjacket, Search ecplaza.net for buying and selling leads," he said.

"Let's get ready to compete, that's the biggest thing for me.List of affordable Breitling prices for used and authentic Breitling in authenticjackets."

Without reaching for excuses,The next important aspect of wholesaleoutlet lies on their appearances. Babcock said that a "very good team" before the injuries has not been very good ever since.

So the standings matter less, he said, than playing better and with the old confidence.

"What matters is how you feel about yourself, the details in your own zone, how the special teams are going," he said. "How are you playing? How's your health?

"That's what matters. Because when you go into the playoffs feeling good about yourself is what matters."

Simple days

Unlike the bizarre pop fashions usually seen on runways in Tokyo, the latest collections for the 2012/13 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo held between March 18 and 24 were rather quiet, focusing more on chic and simple designs.

Drawing on the force of nature demonstrated by the Great East Japan Earthquake, many designers embraced the theme of "coexistence" at the event, held a year after the massive earthquake and tsunami.

Somarta used the colors and shapes of shells and coral in its line. Models appeared in dresses covered with tape-like strips of fabric, and vivid red and light pink were the dominant hues of the collection.goodchloehandbags

The theme of Kamishima Chinami was a winter forest. "I want the audience to feel vitality and strength in the time before spring," said designer Chinami Kamishima, burberryhandbags who used tree branch and cyclamen flower motifs on her feminine one-piece dresses.

Christian Dada, well-known for designing costumes for pop diva Lady Gaga, also presented a collection inspired by a forest--but one that is devastated, not vibrant. Designer Masanori Morikawa was influenced by footage shown on TV after the March 11 disaster of a forest contaminated by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe.

For example, the designer re-created a blueish green, mossy forest using a uniquely woven fabric on a miniskirt.

"I want to ask my audience a question through my designs about the future of nature in Japan," he said.

In contrast, a tropical mood dominated beautiful people's runway, with Hawaiian flowers, palm trees and pineapples printed on scarves and jackets.

"I was inspired by a tropical island, as I hope my clothes make wearers happy and joyful," said designer Hidenori Kumakiri.

The autumn/winter collection of matohu illustrated the change of the season through its designs. Hiroyuki Horihata and Makiko Sekiguchi boldly sketched random patterns on silk dresses with brushes, evoking autumn in mustard yellow and navy blue.

The duo processed luxury silk to make it look and feel like hemp, and melted part of the textile to make rough holes exposing the back fabric. By putting detailed work into the fabric, the designers expressed the Japanese value of "exploring beauty from something simple.pradahandbag"

"After the earthquake, I felt consumers wanted clothes to be simpler, to express richness of mind rather than something gaudy and luxurious," Horihata said.

Designer's sleeping bag coat transforms - and warms - Detroit's homeless

One young designer is using her talents for what lies far beyond Fashion Week: the real world.
Veronika Scott, 22, created the "MWPR" coat, which doubles as a sleeping bag for Detroit's struggling homeless population (approximately 20,000). Warm and waterproof, the outerwear boasts yet another remarkable feature — it was also constructed by the homeless. Part of Veronika's project,Our canadagoosecoat look, work and feel exactly like the originals. called "The Empowerment Plan," is to help give jobless women a way to earn money by teaching them how to sew and produce within the garment industry, offering them a new way to support themselves. It's a coat that's giving two-fold.
"If done right, this would be a way to help end the homeless cycle," Scott told TODAY.com. "We give homeless women jobs while in the shelter, so they can earn money, find a place to live, and gain back their independence for themselves and their family."
Interestingly, it all started as a school project "gone awry" at Detroit's College for Creative Studies,High quality replica canadagooseparkajackets of well known brands . says Scott. "After months of developing this product for a class, I had begun to realize that I wasn't really designing for a tangible need, I was trying to solve an emotional one.Get great deals for alexanderwangreplica on eBay!"

It's an impressive accomplishment that's earned Scott respect from fellow clothing manufacturers in Michigan. "It's evident that Veronika has put a lot of thought into the technical design of the MPWR coat," said Mark Valade, president and CEO of Dearborn-based clothing company Carhartt, which specializes in outerwear. Beijing's Fake-Goods Mall Going 'Upmarket'

China's most famous fake goods shopping mall in Beijing is going upscale. But piracy will remain its chief tenant.
Silk Street Market, which has welcomed former United States president George Bush, Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps and busloads of Singapore tourists among the thousands who turn up daily,IWC watches are warranted by our cosmeticbagfactory for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. wants to have brighter lights and bigger shops.
"We are modelling the new Silk Street Market after mid- to high-range malls," Zhang Yongping, president of Silk Street Market Group, said of the year-long project.
But in a sign that China's struggle against intellectual property remains a losing battle, the country's most famous emblem of piracy is not giving up on fake goods. Instead, it will offer better quality counterfeit products.
"We will replace the current inferior products with better quality, if not Grade A, items," said Frank Young, deputy general manager of the famed seven-story complex, which started its remodeling last Sunday.
Foreign companies have long complained about piracy in China, and the authorities have pledged repeatedly to crack down on those who flout intellectual property rights (IPR).
For instance, China's top judge Wang Shengjun told the National People's Congress earlier this month that Chinese courts tried nearly 40 percent more IPR cases last year.
But a visit to Silk Street Market shows how weak IPR protection remains in the country and how popular copycats are.
The mall has rows of well-lit shops, almost all hawking pirated versions of luxury brands such as Coach, Prada, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton. We've seen all the best authenticpalphlaurenpolo of 2011.
Aggressive saleswomen usually mark up prices by at least 100 percent, which allows for the loud and boisterous bargaining Silk Street is well known for.
Still, undeterred tourists make a beeline for the mall, lured by the prospect of picking up counterfeit brand-name items at bargain prices.
"I got these Ralph Lauren shirts and sweaters at a steal. They may be fakes, but they cost about 15 times less than what I need to pay in my own country," German tourist Jacob Mayer, 33, told The Sunday Times.
Explaining the attraction of Silk Street, consumer behavior analyst Zheng Yuhuang from Tsinghua University told The Sunday Times: "The quality of some replicas is so good that they are indistinguishable from the genuine products, and yet they cost at least 10 to 20 times less."
The center has had its share of run-ins with foreign companies in Our coolerbagfactory are the highest quality and most durable replicas available .the past. "Selling counterfeits can be a short cut to making money for both the management and the sellers, and this explains the lack of motivation on the part of management to interfere with the vendors' fake goods business," said intellectual property rights lawyer Xu Xinming.

Kermit the super dad uses art, imagination to connect with daughter

Apparently, an assortment of fairies visits the Mulkins residence from time to time bearing magical gifts. Last fall, Darbi received a surprise visit from Orohorn, the Frost Giant, who left her the egg in a nest on the porch.
"The story is ongoing," said her dad, Kermit. "She's been entrusted with the care of the egg while Orohorn is attending to the Giant War near 81st and Lewis. We found evidence of one of his battles when we discovered two large severed hands from a Bronze Giant that Orohorn must have slain."
When supernatural entities aren't paying them visits, the Mulkins family is frequently plugging into creative outlets, especially where Darbi's concerned.
"I love filling my kid's head with as much fanciful nonsense as I can," said Kermit, a graphic designer by day, and poet and lunch-bag artist extraordinaire at night.
So far, he's illustrated about 80 lunch bags for his daughter and wife, many of which he showcases on his website, tulsaworld.com/kermitmulkins
'Constant giddy anticipation'
"This one's my favorite," said Darbi, pointing to a bag with a drawing of the family's cat, Giacomo, throwing up on his head. "It's silly."
Giacomo, whom Kermit occasionally calls "Jerkimo," is a handful. Kermit is more fond of Lorraine, the other house cat.
But Darbi, "being an empathetic person,The great selection of wholesale bestledlighte at TradeTang. is the ultimate defender of Giacomo and calls me out on every transgression," he wrote on his website about the bag, which he titled "Giacomo Strikes Back!"
Art has figured prominently in Kermit's life since childhood.
When he was away for months at summer camp, his dad would mail him doodles and diagrams, and copies of research in shared interests - stuff like how to make bows, arrows, even potato guns.
"We'd also write stories together," Kermit said. "My mom wisely made sure to keep me in supply of blank paper. No coloring pages - she didn't want to inhibit creative exploration."
Fast forward to the old Blockbuster store at 71st Street and Memorial Drive where he worked, when a pretty girl named Maria came in looking for a copy of a Muppets movie. It was "kismet," he said. And it didn't hurt that his name was Kermit.
About 10 years later, they've created a creative home environment for Darbi, who's a first-grader at Riverfield Country Day School. Last year, when the zipper on her favorite lunch bag broke, a crisis developed.
"She cried," Kermit recalled, "and, on the spot ... I drew a five-second cat doodle. She's obsessed with cats."
He wouldn't let her see it so that it would be a surprise when she opened her bag later at school. It was a hit, so he kept doodling, creating more intricate designs - most involving cats.
First, he does a loose pencil sketch, then inks it before coloring with Prismacolor pencils. How do internet users feel about nylonbag? If he decides on a poem, he'll run the brown bag through the typewriter. He does this at night, sometimes spending a few hours on one bag. Each one is a surprise, so Darbi doesn't see hers until the next day at lunch.
"It's a way of having something to look forward to," Kermit said, "and I think it's helping Darbi learn the concept of 'good things come to those who wait.' Also, it's nice to have a connection while we're not together. In Style Accessories collecting cheapcanadagoose0 to donate to shelters."
For Maria, he'll combine art and his knack for poetry. Her favorite is "Your Scalding Hot Bath," as she's fond of steamy,Learn more about Largest Discount miumiureplicahandbags. luxurious soaks.
"It's the most comforting thing in the world to know that what we share in our family is enough to drive Kermit to such creative heights," Maria said. "I get to live with the constant giddy anticipation of the next day's lunch sack - even if he's just packed an apple."
His art keeps their family excited about life, about one another, she continued.
"He has really shown us how important it is to keep our creative juices flowing, even if it is small," Maria said. "We have bonded so much over these lunch sacks; it's to the point that I can't imagine life without them."
Plus, Darbi looks forward to hers, as well - as do her classmates, some of whom have tried sneaking into her school bag to steal a peek at what her dad's done this time.
He's always enjoyed blending art with writing, and he plans to keep doing so, whether it's on lunch sacks or using other media, Kermit said.
"It's been suggested that I should do a comic strip or greeting cards,Intensify your own Grace with ralphlaurenhoody." he said. "That'd be fun, too. I do believe I'm sentimental enough."

Tech women advance in NCAAs with 76-50 win

Georgia Tech, the team without a home court, is enjoying success in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on an ACC rival's turf.
If they can get one more victory in North Carolina's Carmichael Arena, the Yellow Jackets can pack their bags for the regionals.
Georgia Tech took a successful first step in the NCAA tournament Sunday, dispatching Northeast Conference champion Sacred Heart 76-50 in the first round as freshman wing guard Sydney Wallace came off the bench to score a season-high 28 points.
The Yellow Jackets (25-8) will take on Georgetown,Buy louisvuittonborse online at Goldsmiths quality jewellers. a 61-56 winner over Fresno State, at 7 p.m.In our parmigiani monclerouterwear1 you can easily find a fake parmigiani replica uhren watch to wear it. Tuesday in the second round with a berth in the Des Moines (Iowa) Regional at stake.
The win over Sacred Heart (27-6) was the third in a row at Carmichael for Georgia Tech, which beat UNC here in each of the last two seasons. And it was never in doubt after the opening 10 minutes.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 9-7 when Sacred Heart senior forward Callan Taylor scored in the low post at the 14:25 mark. But Taylor picked up her second foul at 13:09 and went to the bench, and Georgia Tech promptly put together an 13-1 run to take the lead for good.
"It took us a while to get our feet under us," Georgia Tech coach MaChelle Joseph said. "We've been off for two weeks. Once we got our defense going, we were able to convert some easy baskets on the offensive end."
With 6-foot-5 post Sasha Goodlett powering her way inside to 12 points (nine in the first half) and 11 rebounds, Georgia Tech surged in front. Wallace made it 22-10 with a short jumper, but she was just getting warmed up. Over the final 8:16 of the half, she poured in 11 points without missing a shot – including a 3-of-3 effort from 3-point range.
She would end up 11-of-13 from the field, 6-of-8 on 3's, and blow away her previous high game of 16 points.
"We brought her to Georgia Tech to score, and she's done that in spurts," Joseph said.
"Today she took it to a whole other level. We have been a high reputed cheapjackets for quite a long time. One of the things we've been talking to her about is putting two halves together,We invite you to visit our latest collection of crybud. because we knew if she could put two halves together she could have big numbers. "I just went out there with confidence, and once I knocked down the first shot, I was very confident and just continued to shoot," Wallace said. "When I'm open and my teammates find me, it's my job to knock down the shots."
Wallace wasn't the only sub to contribute in the scoring column. Mo Bennett came off the bench to add 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting as the Yellow Jackets hit at a 52.9 percent clip from the field.
The efforts from Wallace and Bennett more than offset a subpar scoring day from Tyaunna Marshall, who finished with two points on 1-of-7 shooting, well off her team-leading 15.3 average.
"Usually when Ty struggles, we struggle to score," Joseph said. That wasn't the case Sunday, and Georgia Tech's defense never let Sacred Heart get comfortable on offense.
"It wasn't one of our better games, but I think Georgia Tech did a terrific job," Sacred Heart coach Ed Swanson said. "They are so athletic, and they took us out of what we wanted to do."
Up 36-21 at halftime, the Yellow Jackets had a 20-point lead in less than six minutes and reached as much as 30 (71-41) with 5:42 to play. Georgia Tech's full-court zone press helped account for 20 turnovers by Sacred Heart, which Tech converted into 31 points. What My Mother Knew About the Assads

I often wonder what my mother, who died in 2002, would have made of Syria today: the bloodshed, the butchery, the brutality of Bashar Assad's regime depicted in grainy cell-phone videos on YouTube. A country torn at the seams.
For a while, Syria belonged to my mother, Farida Kuligowska, who studied at Damascus University in the 1970s and later returned as a journalist in the early '80s. She was shy, flaxen-haired and fluent in Arabic.cheapjackets
I like to think she would have seen through Bashar Assad long before these dark days, and balked at his pretense of being a reformer. She certainly had her doubts about Hafez, Bashar's father, even at a time when he was America's darling. After the 1973 war, Henry Kissinger visited Assad Sr. 13 times, believing that the cunning peasant-leader could be the most trusted Arab partner of the U.S.
The other day, on the anniversary of my mother's passing, I was rummaging through a box brimming with tourist knick-knacks and my mother's photos of people in flared jeans and sequined jackets, when I found a bulky book of newspaper clippings from her time in the Middle East. Stuffed between the yellowed pages were her student letters to her anxious father in Warsaw, scribbled notes for a book, and the articles she wrote later as a roving reporter in and around Syria for Polityka, a Polish weekly.shoppingbagfactory
The letters set her father's mind to rest—there was a war brewing, after all. But they also paint a vivid picture of Hafez's Damascus. My mother lived close to what the locals called Hanging Square, the place that had until recently been used to string up supposed traitors and spies. The rents were cheaper there, but even so, Polish students had to share cramped digs to make ends meet. Soldiers in khaki were everywhere, a reminder that before Hafez, Syria had witnessed coup after coup.
In the months after the 1973 war, Damascus was a dark place. The Israelis had hit the main power plant, so all of the lights were kept dimmed. My mother reported that faces would emerge out of the evening gloom as a painterly chiaroscuro. Unlike the bustling capitals of Cairo and Beirut, the streets would empty of cars by 9 p.m.
Yet Hafez Assad's Damascus retained a sheen of glamour, and enough metropolitan flair to make outsiders believe that Assad was on the way toward making his people richer and happier.monclerjacketswomens My mother wrote home about the fashionable boutiques on Kasar Street, laurenhoody well beyond her shoestring budget. She longed to hang out in the Piccadilly, the place to see and be seen. It had been renamed Cordoba due to a ban on English names, and the city's murals depicting 18th-century London had been plastered over on the orders of a Baathist official, but it retained its allure as a society hangout.
All of this was part of Hafez Assad's confidence trickery, the illusion that Baathist dictatorship could have a smiling, youthful face. His 1973 constitution, for instance, guaranteed women's "equal status in society." Assad boosted investment in infrastructure, the health sector and education. My mother's dissertation analyzed these education reforms and was broadly supportive, energysaving but soon enough she was no longer giving Assad the benefit of doubt.

Paris fashion looks to arctic winter

The fashionable crowd won't be caught out twice: after this year's arctic cold snap in Europe, Paris Fashion Week designers are rolling out sumptuous cashmere and deep fur to keep warm in style next winter.
Jean Paul Gaultier sent out a graffiti-inspired ready-to-wear line on Saturday night to the edgy sound of the Velvet Underground, with coats that were an overt challenge to the anti-fur activists at animals rights group PETA.Visit the premier shoppingbagfactory in Melbourne Australia.
On single models the French designer mixed up fox, mink, Mongolian lambskin - a deep, shaggy fur - and goatskin, while a stunning bright orange mohair coat had fur sleeves in the same tone, along with pink or blue fur jackets.
A trompe l'oeil knit dress had sleeves growing from the hips and knotted at the front,New monclerjacketswomens at discount prices from SwissLuxury. while a black and red velvet bustier dress extended at the ankle into a slate-grey stole that was thrown back up over the shoulder.
Gaultier was also one of the rare designers to show puffer jackets this season - in a gesture to people who need a "really warm coat".my wife's gift for my mom was nonwovenbagfactory .
Mink and fox topped the wish list for fur lovers at the ready-to-wear shows, although rabbit was a less ruinous way to keep out the chill, printed in bright colours or with a leopard motif like at Isabel Marant.
Britain's fashion icon Vivienne Westwood offered coats in Mongolian lambskin, to be worn over a tunic dress in dusty pink mohair and platform boots with chunky crocodile heels. With the boom of guess crybud boutiques.

Deep coat hoods were there to hide from the cold, while tweed jackets had large lapels to keep the shoulders warm, paired with boyish leggings, buttoned along the inside seam.

Why Men Like Boats

I learned to sail when I was eight. Following my father's love for all types of watercraft, I learned about fishing boats,Ed Hardy Caps Buy On Sale and canadagooseparka with high quality. sailboats, cruisers, even houseboats. I never thought of myself as a 'girl' sailor. I was captain, first mate, cabin boy, deck hand and crew. I was also cook for a 12-day excursion along the Intracoastal Waterway,Purchase Swiss Brands backpackfactory and enjoy luxury feeling. but that episode is better left in the archives.
Women are great and able sailors. From the famous female pirate Madame Ching of China who was arguably the most successful pirate of the 19th century to Naomi James who circumnavigated the globe -- solo -- in 1978, women have been conquering the seas with great skill and impressive stats. And yet, I've noticed an embarrassing and worrisome trend among fellow boating enthusiasts. Once on board, inequality billows forth like the heavy exhaust from a two-stroke.
Last month, we joined friends for a day cruise on their lovely 35-foot cabin cruiser. We crossed the Bay and explored quiet coves and tranquil rivers, motoring without event. At the day's end, we stopped to refuel before returning home.High-End canadagoosejackets at Convenient Locations . Just as we tied up, a very large boat, a sport yacht, pulled alongside the dock.
"That boat will take forever to fill," the gas attendant said, pointing. "Do you mind if I get him started first?"
We didn't mind. We refilled our glasses and opened a box of Wheat Thins. I stretched my legs out in the sun, munched a cracker and scrutinized the luxurious multi-cabin craft at our bow.
"That's a beautiful boat," my husband said in the worrisome whisper that means he's interested in something he cannot have or do.
Our host agreed. "It's a yacht," he said, sitting next to me.
"What's the difference between a cruiser and a yacht?"
"Cabin cruiser usually refers to a boat less than forty feet in length. Anything bigger than that is termed a yacht. Then there's the mega yacht, and the super yacht."
We lowered our voices as a middle aged woman emerged from inside the galley carrying an armload of clothes or jackets or blankets, folded neatly.High quality replica lancelhandbags2012 of well known brands .
"Honey!" A voice pierced the air.Thirty pages into the book diorhandbags has not done anything recently. It came from aloft, two levels above the woman with the clothes. We all looked to the flying bridge where the Captain was perched in a custom curved chair, wearing dark sunglasses and a white hat. He tilted his head toward the window and called again. "Honey! Can you come topside and secure another line?"
